Jammin' Bag for Jamica

When my daughter Cheryl said she needed a beach bag for Jamica, Moma got busy! I love sewing for my family and always want whatever I make to be special. I love the ne coated cotton "Prince Charming" by Tula Pink. Cheryl loved the bag so much, she used it as her carry on for the plane as well as a beach bag. When she came to visit me she came through the door with that bag loaded down. It gives me so much pleasure to see her love her bag so much. When finished, the bag had a aqua glass butterfly to cover the magnet snap. Labors of love are always the best!

Red, White and Black quilt for my not so grown grandson

I had so much fun with this quilt. My grandson has just turned 19 but he will always be a kid "at heart. The quilt pattern is called "Stairway to Fortune." I didn't use the pattern. I just cut 2 1/2" x 6 1/2" strips and started sewing. I love to put a surprise on the back which makes it reversible.

Letters for Lyrics

Soldiers' Angels Dodge Ram Letters for Lyrics Zac Brown Band concert Orange Beach Alabama 2159 letters! What a fun time we had! Getting to know Angels I had never met before was so much fun.
The concert crowd was AWESOME! Many Angels worked the crowd, catching them as they waited in lines, handing them postcards to write while they waited for admittance, drinks, pit stop, etc. The night got really cool and breezy just as the Zac Brown Band went on stage. The dew fell, covering our tables and postcards with condensation. The wet tables didn't dampen our spirits one bit.
One mini-angel named Dakota was our cheerleader and announcer. He did a great job drawing the Letters for Lyrics participants to our tables. The few notes I was able to read were so heartfelt and sincere. I know our military is going to love getting those cards. I am glad I got to attend.

Vietnam Veterans Photos Needed

This is a re-post from The Soldiers Angels Website.

Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund and FedEx Partner to Collect Photos
For all 58,261 Vietnam veterans on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial

The following is from the Education Center at The Wall:

Behind every name, a story. Our goal is to collect photos for all 58,261 veterans on The Wall. It was thousands of individuals who helped build the Memorial; now we are calling on you once again.

Do you have a photo or know someone who has a photo for a name on The Wall?

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund is partnering with FedEx to collect these precious photos. It’s simple. Bring an original picture to any FedEx Office location (office locations, not shipping-only centers). They will scan your photo while you wait and hand the original right back to you. To download and print out the submission form, click here.

For more information and instructions on how to mail your photos, click here.

If you don’t have a photo yourself, spread the word. Ask family, friends, neighbors. Visit your local library to search for yearbooks. Ask at your church, or put a call for action in your hometown newspaper. For more information about this initiative, visit

Just Saying........

Life at the beach. Ah-h-h you say. I'll admit, the years here have been good for me. Now the winds have changed and I'm trying to stay on the lee side.

The winds of change are named BP. The faces of my kids, neighbors and friends are worried. Worried about the unknown, namely the toxic crude oil and dispersants that were spilled and sprayed
into the beautiful Gulf of Mexico, spoiling the water. No one knows what will happen to our sea life, wildlife, reefs, beaches, or our own lives for that matter. We have no idea how many years it will take the Gulf to recover.

I am a positive thinker and want to believe that we will conquer anything that comes our way. I always see the glass half full, not half empty. A lot of people would call me a fool for believing we can get beyond this disaster. When I think about that, I remember that God helps those who help themselves. I only hope we CAN help and that the recovery will be in my lifetime.
